On the evening of March 26, the Anglican Parish of St. Aidan and St. Bartholomew in Gibsons gathered to say goodbye to Rev. Gary and Joy Hamblin.
The Hamblins came to the church nearly two and a half years ago as a team to assist the parish to rebuild. As well as providing the usual services of ordained ministry, Gary and Joy were also key members of the group within the church that worked to place the parish on a strong footing. Their work has been appreciated by the members of the parish. Many attended the dinner on Sunday evening to express thanks to these wonderful people. Though they were at the church for only a short time, Gary and Joy made many friends and will be remembered with fond memories.
Rev. Peter Van Der Leelie, the new full-time rector, starts services at St. Bartholomew's this Sunday, April 9, which is Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week in the Christian church. Services are at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., with Church School for children offered at the 10:30 service. All are welcome to attend.
The service to officially induct Rev. Van Der Leelie as the parish priest of the church will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 7:30 p.m. at St. Bartholomew's Church, with Bishop Michael Ingham presiding.
All are welcome to attend this special service.
