Liberal candidate Pamela Goldsmith-Jones took a commanding lead in the early polls for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country, capturing 53.1 per cent of the vote after 30 of the riding’s 246 polls were reported by Elections Canada.
As of 8:25 p.m., Goldsmith-Jones was leading with 2,809 votes – more than double the total for Conservative incumbent John Weston, who was sitting with 1,272 votes (24.1 per cent).

Trailing in third was the NDP’s Larry Koopman with 659 votes (12.5 per cent), followed by Green Party candidate Ken Melamed with 512 votes (9.7 per cent), the Marijuana Party’s Robin Kehler with 19 votes (0.4 per cent) and Marxist-Leninist Carol-Lee Chapman with 15 votes (0.3 per cent).
If Goldsmith-Jones’ lead holds, she will join Justin Trudeau’s projected majority government in Ottawa.
Both CBC and CTV were projecting a Liberal government minutes before polls closed at 7 p.m. in B.C.
