The shíshálh Nation shares with deep sadness the passing of our beloved Elder and Knowledge Keeper, Sid Quinn, who began his journey to the spirit world on Friday, June 6.
Sid’s presence in our community was one of strength, humility, and quiet leadership. For more than 40 years, he walked the land with purpose, protecting it, improving it, and ensuring it would thrive for the next generations. There is not a part of the swiya that Sid didn’t touch with care. He gave his time freely, without hesitation, and was always there to help. Whether guiding lost hikers, assisting boaters in need, or offering his knowledge to protect and honour our swiya.
Sid lived the teachings of our ancestors. He carried our values in all that he did and reminded us, through his actions, of the importance of service, respect, and love for the land and our people. His legacy is not only in the trails he cleared and the places he protected, but in the hearts of all who had the honour of learning from him.
The shíshálh Nation holds his family close in our hearts and lifts our hands in gratitude for all that Sid gave. May his memory guide us forward.
?ul nu msh chxw, Sid.
With respect, shíshálh Nation
