Being featured on Life Network's Making It Big has launched former Pender Harbour student Chloe Angus to star status.

"I go out for breakfast in the morning to my favourite spot and people are stopping me now saying they saw me on the show. So there's no more showing up in my favourite pair of sweat pants," joked Angus.

She was thrilled to be asked for her first autograph a few weeks ago and since appearing on Making It Big she has been welcomed with open arms in the fashion industry. The people buying her clothing are also very excited about her evening wear and Summer Italiano line now available at The Bay.

"I recently did a show called Figure A, which is a fashion and art show. I won the people's choice award at that show so that was really an honour," said Angus.

Along with the win comes a TV spot on MTV's 969, which looks at what's happening in the fashion and music industry."We film that next week, so that's really exciting," said Angus.

She says being on television has increased the demand for her clothing and the appreciation of her work.

"It's like I've become an overnight star. It's cool how getting the exposure on TV can really make your career take off," said Angus.

Angus is now preparing for some upcoming fashion shows in Vancouver. She recently completed filming a short piece about her work for Urban Rush, a local entertainment and variety show that airs on Shaw Cable in Vancouver.

"I'm just blown away by everything that's happening and the great responses I'm getting from everyone. I've even got some emails of congratulations from people who know me from the Coast," said Angus.

She grew up on the Coast and was home-schooled by her mother. Angus has since moved to Vancouver to launch her fashion career.

At an early age Angus showed a passion for fashion.

"When I got my first Barbie, I threw out all her clothes and designed my first couture collection," Angus laughed.

Her mother always said fashion design was Angus' calling. Judging by her recent success, mom was right.
