The start of Roberts Creek’s annual Creek Daze celebration belied the community’s laid-back character: the Higgledy Piggledy parade started precisely at the advertised hour of 11:11 on August 10. The opalescent march was accompanied by hours of live music, dozens of vendors, and a vigorous book sale at the community library. As the tail of the parade passed by, bystanders joined the fray and spectators became celebrants. The throng moved en masse to the newly-finished mandala, where dancers, singers, and stiltwalkers gyrated in the sweltering sunlight all afternoon.
