Sunshine Coast RCMP are seeking leads on up to four male suspects after a home invasion in Gibsons on Tuesday, Aug. 10.
Police say three men pushed their way inside a single-family home in the 1400 block of North Road at about 4:30 p.m. after the owner opened the door in response to their knocking.
“The couple in the residence were restrained with zap straps and the males demanded the whereabouts of a male unknown to the residents,” RCMP said in a news release.
“It appeared that the home invaders quickly realized they were in the wrong home and that the residents were unrelated to the man they were looking for. Fortunately, the couple were not physically harmed and were able to call police within minutes.”
Police responded at 4:51 p.m.
A fourth suspect may have been waiting in a vehicle outside, RCMP said.
All of the men appeared to be in their late 20s to early 30s. One is described as Black, 6-2, thin, with shoulder-length dreadlocks, another as Black, 5-10, stocky to medium build, with short black hair with tight curls, possibly wearing black pants, black shoes and a blue T-shirt.
A third man is described as being Asian or Black, and one as possibly Caucasian.
Police believe the men travelled to the Sunshine Coast from Horseshoe Bay on a BC Ferries sailing on Tuesday and travelled back possibly on the 6:45 p.m. ferry the same day.
Two SUVs are believed to be related to the suspects – a black Range Rover with no front plate and a white front bumper, and a light-coloured, possibly grey Audi or Nissan SUV.
Police are asking anyone with surveillance video that captures the area around the 1400 block of North Road, or who saw the vehicles or suspects, to contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266 or email [email protected].
