The nominate your neighbour project is one of many programs hosted by the Communities in Bloom group. Anyone can participate, surprise their neighbour and show appreciation for their contribution in making their neighbourhood beautiful by contacting Communities in Bloom through organizers Katherine Magor at 604-886-6754 or Wendy Gilbertson at 604-886-2274. Recipients receive a certificate of recognition, which can be proudly displayed in their garden, and a plant donated by Quality Farm and Garden, B&K Soils or Sunshine Coast Nursery. Speaking of community involvement, in preparation for the big competition, Communities in Bloom invited local businesses to participate in a litter campaign.

Bob Hoy from Market-place IGA, Brian Marilees from McDonalds and Robin Eyford from Tim Hortons and Wendy's attended a brainstorming session with the Communities in Bloom volunteers. In their bid to win the competition, the Communities in Bloom group will require the community's help overcoming the obstacle of litter in order to score points. The community can greatly assist and take part in this competition by keeping their frontages litter free for the month of July. Anyone interested in participating in a clean up campaign prior to the judges' visit can contact the organizers.
