On Nov. 4, Cliff Gilker Park in Roberts Creek was officially reopened after BCHydro removed a hazard tree from the area.
The park and trail network had been closed since Oct. 21, when a tree fell and was stuck above a powerline near the main access road, and special contractors were required to remove it.
Then, when heavy rain and strong winds hit the Coast on Oct. 24 and 25, more trees caused damage when they fell on one of the trail bridges in the park. The bridge, which is on the red trail, remains closed.
There are still a few words of caution about the area from the Sunshine Coast Regional District. The public is asked to remain aware while driving on the main access road, as repairs to the road bed are set to be completed the following week. There are other downed trees that have been flagged for visibility and scheduled for removal.
