Sweeping change came about on Saturday night in Sechelt as only two incumbent councillors kept their seats.
Sechelt has a new mayor as Darren Inkster defeated current Mayor Cam Reid by more than 900 votes. Joining Inkster at the council table is incumbent councillors Keith Thirkell, who topped the polls with 1,682 votes and Warren Allan who finished third overall. New to council are Fred Taylor, who finished second, Alice Janisch who was fourth, Alice Lutes who was fifth and Ann Kershaw who was sixth.

While Sechelt saw change at the top, things stayed the same in Gibsons, albeit just by a nose.
Mayor Barry Janyk held off a furious charge from current councillor Gerry Tretick to be re-elected mayor. Janyk picked up 737 votes to Tretick's 703. At the council table, two incumbents were re-elected. LeeAnn Johnson topped the polls with Chris Koopmans third. The two new councillors are Wayne Rowe who was second and Kenan MacKenzie who was fourth. Incumbent Bob Curry finished a close fifth.

At the Sunshine Coast Regional District board table there will be some change.
Eric Graham was elected in Pender Harbour/Egmont and is a new director with the retirement of John Rees. Garry Nohr was re-elected in Halfmoon Bay while Lorne Lewis was re-elected in Elphinstone. Donna Shugar was acclaimed before the election in Roberts Creek while Lee Turnbull was also acclaimed in West Howe Sound two weeks ago.
