Attempted robbery at drive-thru

Gibsons

Sunshine Coast RCMP are seeking a man responsible for an attempted robbery at a drive-thru restaurant in Gibsons.

On April 4 at around 3 a.m., a male suspect attempted to rob staff at a drive-thru business in the 1000 block of Gibsons Way.

According to RCMP, the middle-aged male suspect, who was described as Asian or Native, five feet, five inches tall with a stocky build and grey short hair, was on foot when he approached the drive-thru window.

The suspect, who was advised he could not be served at the drive-thru, asked if the business offered a cash-back option and then took out a box-cutter knife and showed it to the staff member. The male made some threatening remarks before the window was shut and locked on him.

Police made patrols of the area, but did not locate the suspect.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage and are continuing to investigate.
