Army cadets receive service medals

It was a special night on Feb. 25 for the local 2963 Seaforth Army Cadet Corps. The cadets were honoured with a visit from Army Cadet League of Canada, B.C. branch executive director Maj. (ret.) Roger Prouse and wife Louise.

It was a special night on Feb. 25 for the local 2963 Seaforth Army Cadet Corps. The cadets were honoured with a visit from Army Cadet League of Canada, B.C. branch executive director Maj. (ret.) Roger Prouse and wife Louise. Prouse was on hand to award long service medals to Master Warrant Officer Cody Stevens, Sgt. Loranne Shearsmith and Capt. Darren Shearsmith.

Witnessing the event were No. 1 platoon from Sechelt and Gibsons, No. 2 platoon from Madeira Park and Pender Harbour area of the cadet corps, visiting Maj. Jim Blomme, the area cadet instructors' cadre officer from Vancouver, parents and well-wishers.

The weekend prior to the event, the Seaforth Cadets enjoyed a trip to Vancouver Island where they were treated to a tour of the Canadian warship H.M.C.S Ottawa at Esquimalt and paid a visit to the provincial museum.
