After almost two years of community effort, the Egmont and District Volunteer Fire Department is becoming a reality. The aim is to have a functioning fire department in the spring of 2006.

Powell River man killed in crash

A Powell River man died in a horrific crash in Davis Bay Wednesday night. His pickup truck jumped a concrete barrier and hit a tree so hard that the truck was smashed to pieces and the tree was uprooted. The driver died immediately from the impact.
