It “sounded like a cannon” when lightning struck a tree on Bligh Road in West Sechelt during a severe thunder storm Saturday evening. While the tree lit on fire, the pounding rain soon extinguished the flames, said photographer Karen Rose. The weekend saw 14.5mm of precipitation at Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Sechelt weather station while temperatures reached 27C.
