The Broadway musical Newsies is the latest large-scale production to be taken on by the ambitious School District No. 46 (SD46) Music Theatre Ensemble, with seven shows at Chatelech Secondary School Theatre from Friday, Feb. 28 to Saturday, March 7.

The Pender Harbour Music Society presents its Mid-Winter Chamber Music Weekend with two afternoon concerts, Saturday, Feb. 22 and Sunday the 23rd at the School of Music in Madeira Park. Performances are at 2 p.m. each day.

The Sunshine Coast Festival of the Written Arts is another step closer to its goal of $1 million in endowment funds thanks to a new contribution via the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation (SCCF).

Susan Bertoia will be adjudicating the speech arts and drama discipline at this year’s Sunshine Coast Festival of the Performing Arts. Bertoia is a professional theatre artist, devisor, actor, director and teacher.
