Recent events have forced all of us to face the fact that reconciliation with Indigenous Canadians is necessary. Education and personal connections are an obvious way to help achieve reconciliation.

Anything goes at Roberts Creek Daze, the annual community festival held on Aug. 11, provided it’s upbeat — and offbeat.

Pender Harbour’s annual celebration of marine heritage drew crowds of boat enthusiasts to Madeira Park on Aug. 3. Sponsored by Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society (PHLHS), the event featured beautifully crafted wooden boats, displays of historic marine equipment, kids’ activities, local vendors and community organizations, music, theatre, a fishnet repair workshop, raffle prizes, breakfast from the Lions Club, and a diving exhibition. The Festival of the Rolling Arts last weekend boasted drag races, the Sleepy Hollow Rod Run and show ‘n’ shines, much to the delight of vehicle enthusiasts from the Coast (and from off-Coast too!)
