About 100 guests attended the May 11 fundraising dinner and auction for the Coopers Green Community Hall project at Rockwater Secret Cove Resort.
Keynote speaker Wally Buono, general manager and head coach of the BC Lions, entertained the guests with memories of legendary CFL players and lessons from his 45 years of football life.
SCRD chair and Halfmoon Bay director Garry Nohr, who co-organized the event, also gave a keynote address, while Halfmoon Bay Community Association hall fundraising director Don Cunliffe provided an update on the project.
With the help of a live auction, conducted by Coast Reporter’s Sean Eckford (with former Sechelt mayor John Henderson serving as his “Vanna White”), the event raised $9,000.
