Volunteer free income tax preparation returns on the Sunshine Coast

Program once again available for low-income clients

The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program is sponsored by the Canada Revenue Agency, along with our participating organizations listed below.

Volunteers will complete simple tax returns, free of charge, for low-income clients. Income limits: individual $45,000; family $55,000 for two, plus $2,500 for each additional dependant. Couples are expected to provide complete tax information for both spouses. The program does not serve clients with employment expenses, self-employment income, rental property income or capital gains. Interest income must be less than $1,000.

The program will operate during March and April this year. Three options are offered: in-person tax clinics, drop-off/pick-ups and virtual tax clinics by telephone.

 In-person tax clinics and drop-off/pick-up services:

– Calvary Baptist Church of Gibsons (711 Park Road); drop offs Tuesday to Friday 9 a.m.  to 1 p.m. Ring doorbell at front door.

– Gibsons and District Public Library (470 South Fletcher Road); in-person Fridays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; appointments: 604-886-2130; drop-offs Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (library hours).

– Pender Harbour Community School (5012 Gonzales Road); in person Mondays 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. walk-in (first come-first served). Drop offs Monday to Friday –– drop off through mail slot in door.

– Pender Harbour Health Centre (5066 Francis Peninsula Road); in person Wednesdays 9 a.m. to noon, walk in (first come-first served). Drop offs Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drop off at Reception or make an appointment for Pender Harbour clinics by calling Harry at 604-741-5132.

– Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre (5604 Trail Ave); in person Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. By appointment 604-740-2184.

– Sechelt Public Library (5797 Cowrie Street); in-person Tuesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment 604-885-3260; in person some Saturdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. by appointment.

– Sunshine Coast Resource Centre (107A-5710 Teredo Street); in person Fridays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments 604-885-4088. Drop offs Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

– VCH Home and Community Care Office (5630 Inlet Avenue); 604-741-0726. Drop offs Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
