For the second time this season, the U15A Blues captured gold. This time the team triumphed at the Penticton Minor Hockey Tier 3 Winter Classic.

The Blues went 3-0 in the round robin beating Winfield, Kamloops and Kelowna teams by a combined total of 26 goals for, while only surrendering five goals against, both tops in the 11-team tournament, earning the top seed in the semi-finals facing the fourth seed West Kelowna, where the U15A’s beat in convincing fashion 11-0!

Quesnel Thunder, the only other 4-0 team, won their semi-final 7-0 over Kitimat to set up a showdown of undefeated teams.

The Thunder came out firing on all cylinders and shocked the Blues, taking a 3-0 lead midway through the first period. If it wasn’t for some huge saves, the Blues could have found themselves in an even bigger hole.

The team remained calm and started to chip away, trailing 3-2 at the end of the first period.

The tables turned almost immediately after the start of the second period with the Blues carrying the momentum over and putting on a heavy display of offensive power rattling off six straight goals!

The two finalists would exchange single goals in the third period, and at the end of the game, the Blues came up with a huge 9-4 win to take home the tournament championship!

The team made up of 13-and 14-year-olds would go 5-0, putting up 46 goals while surrendering only nine against.

With two gold medals to go along with the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association Flight 3 regular season banner, the team is seemingly hitting their stride heading into the playoffs where as a team they have a goal set of earning a berth to the B.C. championship in the spring.

The staff of the Blues are proud of what this team has accomplished so far but understand there is still a lot of work left to do to reach our end goal.

The team would like to thank all supporters who travelled to the Interior and those who supported us from afar watching the game livestreams, as well as our team sponsor Cowrie Street Dental.
