‘Tis the season for faires and fundraisers. The much loved and well used Pender Harbour Community Hall is in need of repairs and improvements; rebuilding stairs and adding wheelchair accessible ramps with railings, upgrading the ventilation system, cleanup and maintenance of the gardens to name just a few of them. Donations welcomed at PH Community Improvement Foundation, Box 92, Madeira Park, B.C. V0N 2H0, tax receipt provided.

The Wednesday Hot Lunch Program at the Pender Harbour Secondary School has received generous donations ensuring its success. If you would like to sponsor a PHSS Hot Lunch, please email Anne at [email protected]. The cost is $250, tax receipt provided.

The Legion’s Poppy Campaign is underway, and poppies are available by donation at many locations. In 2021, two bursaries were awarded to PHSS graduates from the Poppy Fund.

Remembrance Day, Thursday, Nov. 11 will begin with the procession through Madeira Park to the Legion at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony at the cenotaph will begin at 11 a.m. There will not be an indoor gathering following the service.

The Bargain Barn has made another fantastic donation, this time $20,000 to the Pender Harbour Health Centre. That is an enormous number of sales! Huge heartfelt thanks to the hardworking, dedicated, always helpful and smiling volunteers.

The Sunshine Coast Bear Alliance, ‘One Voice to Replace Fear with Knowledge’, is here to help with information and education to avoid conflicts that will result in a bear’s euthanization. Go to scbearalliance.com to learn more. Have concerns of a bear in your area or attractants to be dealt with? Call 604-399-8502. SCBA will be at The Hall on Nov. 13 and invites everyone to come by their booth.

Yes, indeed, the Christmas Faire is on Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hall. Artisan vendors from all over the Coast will be offering their beautifully crafted gifts and treasures. One stop Christmas shopping with live entertainment, too! Hosted by the Pender Harbour Community Club. COVID passports and masks required.
