The annual Roberts Creek community clean-up is fast approaching. Have you signed up yet?

From April 17 to May 15, volunteers in Roberts Creek will be picking up litter. The Roberts Creek Community Association (RCCA) with the support of the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is sponsoring this project with the goal of getting the garbage out of our ditches and off our roadsides. The garbage bags and the SCRD garbage tags are provided.

Clean-up kicks off at Earth Day, April 17, with a booth at the mandala in Roberts Creek from noon to 5 p.m. The RCCA will display a large laminated map of Roberts Creek at the RCCA booth. When volunteers sign up to pick up litter, they will be given bags and SCRD garbage tags for curbside pick-up on their regular garbage day. As they sign up, volunteers will mark off the sections of the map they have pledged to clean up. The goal is to match volunteers with every road and street from the cemetery to the provincial campsite.

This is the ninth year for this event, and the community now looks forward to a fresh start and some spring cleaning of area neighbourhoods.

Anyone who wants to get their name on the map of Roberts Creek for the clean-up can sign up at Earth Day or contact Elaine Futterman at 604-885-2395, email [email protected].
