There’s no present like the time

Family Fun Day

It’s valid to say that “there’s no time like the present,” but there’s an even deeper truth in the rephrasing: “There is no present like the time.” This is especially meaningful with reference to time spent with family.

As the summer comes to an end, families get back into the usual work routine and children head off to school. With all the busyness that September brings, it’s important to keep family time and having fun together as a priority.

That’s why Family Fun Day came into being! On Saturday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m., the seventh annual Family Fun Day is happening on the Calvary Baptist Church grounds, 711 Park Road, across from Gibsons Community Centre. (Yes, this will be the seventh year for the event, and it’s only been rained out once.)

It’s fun for the whole family, with a bouncy castle, pony rides – real ones and the rubber, bouncy kind – mini-golf, face painting, crafts, games, entertainment, popcorn and juice, and more! Sometimes, the fire truck and RCMP squad car are able to make it, so it’s truly an all-community event. And yes, it’s free.

The idea is that you and your kids come out for some good old-fashioned fun that costs not a penny. The church puts on the event every year as a way to show support for families and contribute to the community. So, come join the fun, and enjoy the present of time together.
