Recently Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society supporters Brenda Chris-tensen and Tom Barry hosted an unforgettable fundraising event in their home.

World-renowned violin virtuoso Michael Antonello treated guests to an intimate concert of music from Kreisler, Mendelssohn and Beethoven on his Stradivarius, thrilling everyone present. Local pianist Patricia Greenfield accompanied Antonello; both musicians volunteered their talents generously to the occasion. Antonello and his wife were only on the Coast overnight, but have expressed great support for the botanical garden project.

"Every time I visit a park, open space preserve, botanical garden, music festival or public art display, I think of all the volunteers who worked tirelessly, sometimes against great odds, to make it possible," said Christensen.

The Botanical Garden Society's vision for the botanical garden on Mason Road includes participation in all the arts. The garden's new building, due for completion this fall, promises to be a unique venue in a very special setting for arts, educational, horticultural and private events.

Guided tours of the garden are available at 2 p.m. each Sunday. For more information, visit www.coastbotanicalgarden.org.
