Our Dakota Ridge Nordic kids had a great day with their races and Fun Day events Feb. 12. It was a positive day of community skiing and snowshoeing with smiles and cheers and plenty of cowbells to encourage everyone on. Like other community events, the day wouldn’t be possible without the contributions of so many volunteers. The groomers were out before dawn to set tracks and signage. Our edible gingerbread finisher medals were baked with love. There was hot chocolate and snacks to keep us warm and energized. Our marshals made sure no one got lost on the trails.
First place in the 12 km race went to Kevin Durkee, Sechelt 43:10; second place in that race went to Silke Gumplinger, Vancouver - Manning Nordics Club 46:35. The Snowshoe Poker Challenge Winner was Nate Foreman, Gibsons.
