The Sechelt Library invites kids in Grade 7 and under to participate in our at-home Spring Reading Program while the library remains closed. We understand being at home at this time comes with its challenges and we want to help where we can. Sechelt Library has created a fun at-home Reading Log for children to keep track of their reading for a chance to win a prize.
The Reading Log template is available on Sechelt Library’s homepage at https://sechelt.bc.libraries.coop/ or on our Facebook page. If you do not have a printer, these logs can be filled out digitally or you can keep track on your own homemade log.
We are challenging children to read at least five days per week for at least 20 minutes per day. For children who are not able to read on their own, we encourage parents to participate by reading to their children and keeping track on the log.
Children can choose to read chapter books, picture books, magazines, graphic novels and even textbooks. Listening to an audiobook counts as well. If you are running short on material, we encourage you to visit our website for numerous ways to access online picture books, ebooks and audiobooks. Temporary library card registrations are also available online if you do not yet have one.
We look forward to seeing you when the library reopens its doors but until then, happy reading! Prizes will be drawn once the library has reopened.
If you have any questions, please visit our website or call the library from Monday to Friday at 604-885-3260.
