Mother’s Day was a few days ago and because of that, I decided to get some Grade 12 opinions on what Mother’s Day means to them. It is meaningful to reflect on why the people closest to you are important in your life, as well as what they provide for you.

“Mother’s Day is important for me because I can have a lot of attitude with my mom that is usually unintentional and I really appreciate that Mother’s Day gives me an opportunity to reflect on everything my mom does for me with or without my knowledge and I am able to show my appreciation of that.” (Elphinstone Grade 12)

“Mother’s Day is important to me because it’s just a day that truly celebrates and recognizes all the hard work and amazing things that mothers do for us. I feel their efforts and strengths are often overlooked on a daily basis, so Mother’s Day is a chance to highlight them.” (Chatelech Grade 12)

“To me, Mother’s Day is just one of those days that we recognize how much work that mothers do for us and how much love moms put into anything they do. Having a mom so close makes me realize how grateful I am to have opportunities because my mom had made them possible for me. I would not be where I am if it wasn’t for her.” (Elphinstone Grade 12)

“Mother’s Day is an important holiday. My mother has always been there for me, supported me, and done her very best. We should celebrate Mother’s Day and make sure they know how much we value them. Tell your mom you appreciate her as much as you can.” (Chatelech Grade 12)

After receiving all of these responses regarding why Mother’s Day is important to each of these individual people, I remembered that no matter how old you are, cherishing your mom will always be important. I hope every mom out there had a great Mother’s Day.
