Sechelt Hospital Foundation hosting ‘Understanding Trauma, Healing Collectively,’ on May 16

“It’s incredibly common for us to experience dysregulation these days. We live in a time of overwhelm,” Dr. Rahul Gupta, physician and speaker at Sechelt Hospital Foundation’s next MedTalk explains.

“It’s incredibly common for us to experience dysregulation these days. We live in a time of overwhelm,” Dr. Rahul Gupta, physician and speaker at Sechelt Hospital Foundation’s next MedTalk explains.

In “Understanding Trauma, Healing Collectively,” a two-hour session lead by Dr. Gupta, attendees will learn more about the different types of trauma people can experience and some skills for healing from it.

“Trauma is something that lives in our bodies and nervous systems, and what is critically important is accessing a felt sense of safety and belonging. A lot of trauma happens in relationships, so healing needs to happen through attuned connection.”

The session will be held at Raven’s Cry Theatre on May 16, 2:30 p.m., is by donation, and is open to the public. The material takes a gentle, skills-based approach to the topic and is intended for both people with lived experiences and those who wish to create safer spaces for healing.
