The fourth annual Lights in the Landing December celebration has begun in Gibsons Landing with over 25,000 lights now visible at dusk from Gibsons Marina to Molly’s Reach and beyond. The lighting of the trees and storefronts in the Landing is just one of the events planned to create a vibrant seasonal atmosphere and encourage people to shop locally, eat, sip and be merry!
The highlight event of the season occurs on Saturday, Dec. 12, when Santa will sail into the Gibsons Harbour public dock at 11 a.m. accompanied by carollers.
Everyone is invited to join Santa after his landing at the dock up at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery for free photos with Santa, hot chocolate, live music, dance performances and a featured Star Wars collection exhibit. Everything from hula dancers to marimba players to a ukulele group will perform throughout the afternoon as well as Jim Taylor playing rock classics, jazz, blues and seasonal music from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the gallery.
The second annual “Santa Cause” DJ Dance follows at 7:30 p.m. at the Gibsons Public Market. Tickets are $15 and all proceeds go to support the Elves Club.
The Lights in the Landing event is supported by a group of dedicated volunteers and various Gibsons merchants and businesses.
