The Salvation Army on the Sunshine Coast held its 2016 kettle appreciation event on Jan. 28 to recognize the hard work of the 180 kettle volunteers who donated a total of 800 hours during the last Christmas season.
All the funds raised at kettles go to the food bank, feeding programs and emergency services provided to those in need in the Sunshine Coast community by the Family Services Ministry.
The tallies are not finalized, but Christmas kettle campaign coordinator Inge Hardman said she expects to see as much as $75,000 raised from the kettles. The best money day for the campaign was Dec. 23. The kettle that received the most funds was at the SuperValu, Sunnycrest Mall location.
The event was hosted by Hardman and Pastor Joel Torrens with over 50 in attendance.
