A small but enthusiastic crowd turned out to the Walk for Water event in Gibsons on March 24, organized to increase awareness of the Hippo Roller campaign. Participants carried buckets and jugs of water through Lower Gibsons in support of women and children worldwide who travel miles each day to provide their families with water. The Hippo Roller is a simple, innovative device that makes this chore easier and more efficient.
“With the enthusiastic support of Rotary Clubs in Canada and the U.S.A., local businesses and numerous individuals from the Coast, we have already raised $50,698 towards our fundraising goal of $150,000,” says a press release from the Rotary Club of Gibsons.
After the walk, Luke Vorstermans, co-founder of the Roll-A-Hippo Foundation, gave a talk, and Coast Cable/Eastlink screened a show they’ve created in support of the Hippo Roller project (follow Coast Cable on Facebook for future screening dates).
