We voluntarily gave up our Easter Dance, Lions Club Easter Family Celebration, May Day and countless community events and celebrations over a month ago to be safe and stay at home. Our community, a small population, has been as one in unwavering efforts to protect one another and help others, going beyond civil and moral duties. The response to the pandemic was immediate, intelligent, efficient and continues, ever changing to keep everyone safe. Thank you.
This weekend was tough for us, especially the warriors on the front line. They were assaulted as the Harbour area was invaded. Hard enough to get through each day in our own personal place, and having the extra worry of what was to come this past weekend was not a bonus.
Thursday the tidal wave arrived in multiple forms of transportation, “pleasure craft” too. Our anxiety and anger rose like a local epidemic. Our cherished paradise, our lives and our hard-earned efforts were polluted.
A very good place to put our energy now is presenting objections to the name change of where we live, Madeira Park, to “salalus.” Encourage your friends and have your partner send separate emails. The deadline is now extended to Aug. 28. Address your emails to [email protected] and copy to Area A rep [email protected], MLA Nicholas Simons [email protected] and Peter Robson [email protected]. If you need a template for your email, contact me. Together we can make a difference!
On a happier note, glad you like the new pic of moi, “Time for a smile.” Thanks to talented Cindy Cantelon of Earthly Creature Designs, jewelry and metal art, who also makes magic with her camera.
Please stay safe, healthy and strong. Support each other. Be sure to treat those heroes on the front lines like gold and always thank them. Let’s do what we can to prepare for the next long weekend when we should have been celebrating our 75th May Day.
