Pender Harbour-Egmont Highlights: It’s a Sunday stuffed full of events

This Sunday, Sept. 24, the Harbour has many events so plan your day so as to not to miss out.

The Pender Harbour Fall Fair, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., brings back all the traditional family favourites to downtown Madeira. The Harvest Dinner will be hosted by our 2024 grads.

The same day the Pender Harbour Health Society will hold their AGM at the Legion at 1 p.m.

At 2 p.m., Diane Lines, vocalist, and pianist, returns to Pender Harbour School of Music with her jazz/blues/swing trio for a lively concert that will make you want to dance in the aisles! Diane has been inducted into the B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame. She is a favourite on the Coast and has played for the Pender Harbour Jazz and Blues Festivals. The Pender Harbour Garden Club will have well-known local master gardener, and creator of Caron Gardens, Ron Knight as their guest speaker Monday, Sept. 25, 1 p.m. at The School of Music. Annual membership is $15 drop in $5. Coffee, tea and snacks provided.

The Pender Harbour Women’s Connection extends a welcoming invitation to their 23/24 season, Tuesday, Sept. 26, with a “Brunch and Share” potluck gathering. Bring your favourite brunch appetizer, homemade or store bought to share. Reminisce about summer and what you are looking forward to this fall. Reconnect with friends and welcome new people to our community. Doors open at 9:30 at the School of Music. The regular $4 drop-in fee will be waived.

Two very popular annual events are coming up at the Legion: Sept. 30, Thanksgiving ham and turkey draw and pie auction. Featuring, five donated hams and five turkeys, plus early bird draws. Oct. 21 is Ladies Night. Tickets will be available Oct. 1. 

The Reading Centre would like to improve their service to the community by finding out what you want from the Reading Centre. If you use the Reading Centre’s services or if you don’t, help them plan for the future and visit their website and fill out our brief survey at  penderharbourlibrary.ca.

Sept. 28, Harbourside Friendships welcomes guest speaker Eva Mackenzie from Vancouver Coastal Health to speak on available vaccines for seniors. Come to this important informative gathering at 10:30 a.m. at the Hall. Stay for lunch served at noon for $10 per person.

The Bargain Barn is holding a fantastic raffle to raise money for our Pender Harbour Health Centre. The draw prizes are unbelievable! Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the Bargain Barn, from volunteers and at the health centre. Draw is Saturday, Dec. 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the Pender Harbou erharbourrotary.rafflenexus.com/ Let’s do it!

More good news for us diners, the Pender Clubhouse Restaurant and Sports Bar will be open through the winter six days a week, closed Wednesdays with a Chinese food special on Saturdays. Great to see a resurgence of dining establishments in our area. Huge thanks to Tony, Triple BBB’s and Java Docks for always being here for us! Namaste.
