The Egmont Thrift Store is seeking gently used donations. Items needed: men’s clothes, older kids’ clothes, dresses, household items, beauty items, bedding, towels, outdoors stuff and pet stuff only please.

The constantly evolving Egmont Heritage Centre have opened a smoothie and hotdog stand, Skookum Smokies & Smoothies in front of the museum! Saturday the 26th, Matt Richards playing his guitar and signing on the deck, serenading the museum visitors. The Egmont Heritage Centre is looking for a new board member to lead future projects. The current board is launching Summer Sundays Farmer’s Market Aug. 3! The call goes out to all artisans and food growers, or food conservers. Phone 604-883-9994 or email egmontheritagecentre.com.

Simon Gidora and Isabella, Duo Mycelia  will present Classical Summer Serenade this Sunday, July 27 at an afternoon concert at 2:30 p.m. at the School of Music. Enjoy world-class classical music performed by our young local virtuosi. Tickets $30 cash at the door

Time flies when you are having fun. With August just around the corner there is more fun to be had:

Sambulyan is coming back for another lovely visit! Aug. 5, the boat and paddlers arrive at Egmont field. Egmont Community will  host a community potluck BBQ at 6 p.m. They will provide the fish and hope you will come with a dish to share and welcome this group of paddlers to the community. The canoe will also be available for rides the next day.

The Rotary Club of Pender Harbour’s 20th Annual Show & Shine is Sunday, Aug. 10 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112 in Madeira Park. This People’s Choice Car Show puts you in the driver’s seat—you vote for the winners! Bring the whole family and enjoy a spectacular display of cars, trucks, and motorcycles on a beautiful grassy field. Live music, tasty food, 50/50 draw and the Legion’s famous Meat Draw at 3 p.m.! Event details: registration at 9:30 a.m. ($30 entry fee), show time from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and ballot cut-off is at 2 p.m. Info Line: 604-989-7811.

The Pender Harbour Wooden Boat Festival is a weekend event. Aug. 8 to 10 at the Madeira Park Government Wharf. Enjoy a celebration of maritime heritage featuring wooden boats, live music, local food, and historical exhibits.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch #112 will host its annual golf tournament on Saturday, Aug.16 starting at 2 p.m. The playing format is a modified Texas Scramble. Entry is $75 per person, which includes golf, appies, dinner and prizes. Everyone receives a prize! Power carts are not included in the entry fee. Registrations are accepted at the Legion for golf and dinner while power carts must be rented at the golf course.
