In lieu of the annual May Day Parade in Pender Harbour, cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the area first responders including BC Emergency Health Services and the Egmont Fire Department will be driving around Madeira Park and Garden Bay along with the Lions Club and the Coasters Car Club, which will be sharing grab bags for the kids. Come out to safely celebrate our community with our first responders.
The parade will depart the Madeira Park Fire Hall/Ambulance Station at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16. The convoy will then drive along Francis Peninsula Road, loop around Murdock and back down Francis Peninsula to Highway 101. (Note: the first responders vehicles will not be travelling down Warnock Road; however, the Coasters Car Club will be doing so.) The parade will then proceed along Highway 101 to Garden Bay Road as far as the Panorama Drive loop, then back down Garden Bay Road.
Everyone is invited to stand out in the front of their homes, make noise, dress up and help make the rest of the community smile and enjoy each other. However, be sure to stay two metres away from each other and only gather with your own family group. Tell your neighbours and friends. Let’s have a great turnout!
