On June 25, St. Mary’s and Holy Family Catholic parishes held their annual picnic. During the festivities, representatives of the United Canadian Métis Nation presented an eagle feather to Father Joaquim M. Dias “Father Jack” to honour his excellent service at both the Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel in Sechelt and St. Mary’s Church in Gibsons, especially for his inclusion of Indigenous language and culture over the years. The feather was beaded by shíshálh Nation Elder Grace Paul.

Father Jack is moving to New Westminister to take charge of Holy Spirit Parish towards the end of July.
