Operation Christmas Child: Shoeboxes are on their way!

C. Operation Christmas Child
This year’s Coast Operation Christmas Child sent off 808 shoeboxes.

Thank you to the people of the Coast who responded with great joy as they filled 808 shoeboxes with school supplies, hygiene items and toys for children who live in areas affected by disaster, war or extreme poverty. Because local business and individuals donated to fill shoeboxes at a ‘packing party’ at Calvary Baptist Church, we were able to fill 187 shoeboxes in one afternoon. Even with COVID-19 restrictions in place, these volunteers had fun and chose items to bless the children. It was great to be part of a team of volunteers, business and individuals who donated toward the boxes, packed boxes and told their friends and family. Last year we sent 800 boxes, so it was wonderful to beat that total, even as we experienced record rain during this time. More information is available at samaritanspurse.ca. If you are a knitter or other crafter and make items that would be loved by children you can call local co-ordinator Martha Schroth at 604-886-8545 to find out what the needs are or where you can volunteer.
