November 21, 1927 – May 14, 2025
Robert was predeceased by his wife Kaye of 63 years and is survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert was born to Canadian parents, Donat and Merilda, in Olympia Washington in 1927. He had two brothers and three sisters. At the age of four his family moved to Alberta. The family then moved to Vancouver B.C in 1938. His father had a dirty low paying job that took him to Oyster Bay in Pender Harbour 1942. His father being a highly skilled boom man in the logging industry, was offered a job by Ben Klein and he took it. Being that there was no secondary school for Robert at the time, he too was offered a job. At the age of 15 he began his 55 year career in the logging industry. Later the family moved to Sechelt working for Crucil Logging Co. He would go on to work for quite a few logging outfits mostly as a log loader. Bob retired at the age of 65 but continued to work casual for another five years. He was very active in his church for 60 years, doing handyman work to the liturgy as a reader-Lector. He wrote a history of the Holy Family Church for its 50th anniversary.
A funeral service will be held at the Holy Family Church, 5700 Nickerson Rd Sechelt B.C on May 23rd at 11:30am. Following this he will be cremated and interned in the Seaview Columbarium Service Cemetary to join his loving wife.
