Bayard Palmer was born in Enderby, where his father taught him to fish, hunt and work with wood. He graduated from UBC in Forest Economics, and his highly respected work with Acres, Woodbridge Reid and Ass., H.A. Simons and AMEC, took him around the world, where he made many friends along the way.

He met his architect wife Geneviève Lemarchand in 1978 at a jazz concert in the Western Front. They designed and built a house and garden together in Roberts Creek, surrounded by the many native trees he loved, wildlife, his beloved Siamese cats and music. He called it his paradise.

He was an avid reader who remembered each book for the film he made in his head.

Most of his friends were artists and fly fishers, who remember him for his culinary prowess and his sophisticated knowledge of fine wines. He particularly enjoyed fly fishing with Ben, Patrick, John, Peter, George, Don, Jane, Mark, Gerry, Chris, Bill, Jim, Tookie, Clark, James, etc. Those meals in fishing camps are legends!

Much gratitude to Katherine, Sebastian, and Jennifer at Kilajo Pilates, to Dr Graham Lea and the critical care nurses who accompanied him during his last few days.

Please join Geneviève for a celebration of his life at the Sechelt Botanical Garden, October 12 at 11am. RSVP [email protected]

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Salvation Army.
