'She was the heart and soul of so many circles, bringing a vibrancy and authentic warmth wherever she went, with a knack for gathering people together, weaving connections that lasted a lifetime.'

October 30, 1945 - November 8, 2023

Patricia Ann (Smith) Bawtinheimer, aged 78, passed away in her home on November 8 in Langley, BC.

Born October 30, 1945, to Henry and Margaret Smith in Vancouver, BC. She met her husband, Glen, delivering newspapers to his family's summer home on Keats Island, when she was living in Gibsons. They both went to UBC and, after graduating, they married and eventually settled in Langley.

Patty started her career as a Public Health Nurse. In time, she moved into education and, after teaching, became the Dean of Allied Health at VCC, where she helped build their new healthcare facility.

Pat was always willing to help, and tirelessly volunteered her time and energy. Her compassion touched the lives of countless individuals. She was the heart and soul of so many circles, bringing a vibrancy and authentic warmth wherever she went, with a knack for gathering people together, weaving connections that lasted a lifetime.

She was preceded by her beloved husband, Glen Bawtinheimer, and will be deeply missed by her children: Kent Bawtinheimer and wife Melissa, Heather Sell and husband Rob, and Chris Bawtinheimer and wife Emily. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren: Nolan, Kiera, Hamish, Jayce, and Billie, as well as her brother, John Smith, his wife Lynn, and their family.

A force of a mother, a loving wife and a loyal friend. A devoted daughter, beloved sister, and sister-in-law, and a favourite aunt who gave the best hugs. World's Best Gramma. A mentor, supporter, advocate, and inspiration. Pat's legacy of love and togetherness will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
