Our mom Judy passed away peacefully in late November with her children nearby. Mom was a loving wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was the widow of three loving marriages over the course of her long life. She met Graham in church youth group in England in her teens and moved to Ontario, Canada with him in the 1950's. They went on to have three children. Her second marriage to Laurence brought three children making for a 'Brady Bunch-like' home. After moving to the Sunshine Coast, B.C. in 2000, she met and married John and added his two daughters to her circle of children. She had many loved grandchildren as well.  Mom hosted ever expanding Christmas and holiday gatherings, too many Sunday dinners to count, and remembered a calendar full of birthdays. Mom loved to cook and bake and was always trying new recipes. She never sat down, she was always moving and keeping busy. She was always elegant and acted with poise and she earned the nickname 'the Queen'. She was even employed briefly at a local clothing store in the last year since moving to North Vancouver in 2022.

Mom deeply valued her many friendships which grew out of her neighbours, and her endless volunteering which included the Sechelt Auxiliary Thrift Shop for over 20 years, the Writer's Festival, flower arranging, bake sales, hair cutting at Totem, library work, playing golf and bridge, and book club. She traveled extensively even with a backpack in New Zealand in her 60's. She did road trips down to Palm Dessert multiple times with a friend. She enjoyed many cruises around the world with John, and some with her sister. She traveled more than once to South Africa to safari with her brother and his family and she returned many times to Ontario and to England to visit with family and friends, and to help when needed.

She lived through joyful times and challenging times, with equal grace, determination, and resilience. She loved and lived fully and was loved by many. She will be deeply missed. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Sunshine Coast Golf Club on January 13th from 1pm-3:30pm. Please RSVP to Judy's daughter Kate at [email protected] if you are able to attend.
