Matthew Ronald McDonough, father of three and long-time resident of the Sunshine Coast, BC, passed away suddenly and tragically on April 11, 2025.

Matt is survived by his mother, Diane (and stepdad, Doug), brother, R.J., father, Ron (and stepmother, Yvonne), and three children, Jack (9), Owen (6) and Madeline (5).

Matt was born at Vancouver General Hospital on December 7, 1976. He worked as a cable and internet technician for many years in the Fraser Valley. He resided in White Rock with his three kids.

Matthew had a passion for watching and playing hockey. He was a hands-on dad who loved his three, dear children immensely. Matt and his younger brother, R.J., were raised by their mother, Diane. The three of them moved to Gibsons from Ladner in 1986. Both boys grew up and attended school on the Coast. Matthew was mechanically inclined and also knew his way around a fishing rod. He is beyond missed by all his loved ones and friends. Words cannot even describe our grief at his sudden, shocking departure from us.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 1pm at Christian Life Assembly Church, Gibsons, BC, located at 730 School Road, Gibsons, BC. Those who knew him are invited to come and celebrate and honour his memory with refreshments immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through GoFundMe “Remembering Matthew McDonough” gofund.me.
