On March 18, 2023 at Sechelt Hospital, Jack passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a short battle with cancer at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Heather; his son Jeff of Coquitlam; daughter Alexa of Victoria; brother Calvin (Lynn) of Kelowna; two aunts in Winnipeg and 'the cousins'. Jack was predeceased by his parents Alvin and Betty Miller.

Jack was born October 31, 1951 in Winnipeg, MB, four days prior to his wife in the same hospital and he grew up in Sanford, MB. After graduating, Jack worked in tourism development with the Manitoba government. In 1975, Jack and Heather were married, and soon after moved to Calgary, AB where he worked as a loans manager at RBC. While there, they started their family, and in 1986 moved to Banff, AB to become business owners of a small Belgian chocolate shop named Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut that Jack expanded over the next 20 years, and where he met many friends. Jack and Heather raised their children in Canmore, AB and became active members of the Bow Valley where they enjoyed the many beautiful views and venues of the rockie mountains. In 2006, they moved to Vancouver, BC and quickly adapted to a milder climate and coastal lifestyle and happily retired on the Sunshine Coast in 2016. Jack enjoyed playing golf year round; along with curling, traveling and watching hockey. He was a very social fellow with a multitude of funny stories to share and was loved by so many, in all the communities he was a part of. Although he was taken far too soon and quickly, Jack enjoyed a wonderful active life, and we will miss him dearly.

As per Dad's wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of any flowers, his family encourages donations be made to the Sechelt Hospital Palliative Care Unit, BC Cancer, Diabetes Canada, or your charity of choice.
