Obituary: April Marie Shipman

'We love you, and miss you.'

April 2, 1965

Of Lac La Hache, formerly Maple Ridge, Sechelt and Fort Langley, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at home on July 17, 2023, hastened by the wildfire smoke.

She was predeceased by her father, Raymond Potter (2016) and her sister, Nancy Rowland in 2011. April is survived by her loving husband, Robert Shipman, her daughter Melissa Shipman and partner Cody, her mother Rosalie Potter, mother-in-law June Shipman, her brothers Neil (wife Sue), Noel (partner Jill), along with her nieces and nephews, Kate Crokett, Sarah Rowland, Mike Potter, Breanna Potter, Kristopher Potter, and many grand-nieces and nephews.

April was a senior travel agent in Vancouver, and then for many years in Sechelt. She and her husband Rob enjoyed many wonderful trips here and abroad. She was in a terrible bus accident in Costa Rica, which left her with lifelong pain, but this didn't stop her from helping friends who needed help, or had problems. Even as a teenager, she was always bringing someone home to stay if they were having a tough time at home. She was the same with injured animals or birds. That was April. We love you, and miss you.
