The Sunshine Coast Newcomers Club has resumed activities following almost a year of COVID-19-caused hiatus. Prior to the suspension of activities, the club had a busy schedule of various events designed to involve people new to the Coast to enable them to meet new friends and help them integrate into their newly adopted community.
The events include a monthly luncheon, book clubs, group hikes, kayaking, coffee meetings, bacchus (wine tasting), ladies’ and men’s lunches and potluck meals. Other ad hoc events will also appear on the calendar as interests are expressed. These may include games nights, tours of local sites and more.
Currently the club has more than 100 members and welcomes anybody that has lived on the Coast for no more than three years. As the club’s membership is primarily comprised of individuals over 50, and recognizing that there has been a surge of younger people moving to the community and that they have different interests, the club would like to hear from them to determine the best approach to helping them meet others of like mind.
Sunshine Coast residents who are interested in finding out more or possibly joining are invited to visit the website at sunshinecoastnewcomers.com.
