Easter was all around as 65 colourful “Good Eggs” representing volunteer folks and organizations in our community were proudly displayed. Thank you to the Pender Harbour Community School for this lovely, heartwarming event. April is volunteer recognition month and all of you good, giving residents are greatly appreciated!

The opening day of the Saturday Madeira Market was a safe and enjoyable success. Naomi of Huckleberry Studio had a magnificent collection of new pottery creations, irresistible. Dahlia tubers, 10 for $10, sold out. Don’t worry folks, there will be more of both along with other garden goodies this Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ElderDog Sunshine Coast has an info display booth. Come learn what this fantastic volunteer organization has to offer. The Sunshine Coast Bear Alliance will be at the Market April 17. New vendors are welcome. Table $10, tent and table $20. Hosted by the Pender Harbour Community Club, 604-989-0851.

The debut month of the Pender Harbour Rotary’s 50/50, a fabulous creative endeavour in these times, was a huge success. Ticket sales exceeded $10,000. Carolyn White held the winning ticket and in the true spirit of “paying it forward” generously donated $2,500 to the Rotary to be put to good use in the community. We all win! The pot is growing for the month of April. Buy your winning ticket now!

Patio and take-out

Aqui es Mexico was very quick to install a lovely surround for their sunny patio where you can dine on their delicious dishes and margaritas. Take-out is available too. The Clubhouse at the Pender Harbour Golf Club has both dining on the patio and take-out and is hoping to have live music once again after April 19.

We are fortunate to have so many local dining and take-out options including Tony’s Triple BBB’s, Java Docks, Eusperia, Harbour Pizza, Mammas Japanese, The Back Eddy and Grill It!

Prevention: staying safe and maintaining the protocols is paramount as the escalating numbers of COVID cases, particularly the variants, have shown. The numbers on the Coast have been fairly low but the huge number of visitors this past weekend was disconcerting.
