FUNDRAISER

Salvation Army Ministry director Darrell Pilgrim (left) receives a cheque for $2,000 from Gibsons Marina owner Klaus Fuerniss, along with toys, non-perishable food items, and a nicely filled kettle of cash donations from the community. The presentation followed the marina’s “Sea of Light” fundraising blitz to benefit the Salvation Army’s Adopt-a-Family Food and Toy Drive. “We really appreciate Klaus and the Marina’s annual support from the Sea of Light event,” said Pilgrim. Fuerniss noted the cheque represents support from local businesses through sponsorship of decorated trees on the marina wharf. The annual “Sea of Light” has become a traditional holiday attraction as families drop by with donations and enjoy the thousands of bulbs adorning the buildings, trees and walkways at the marina.
