March 8 is International Women’s Day, and two local organizations are celebrating in style this year.
The Canadian Federation of University Women and CanaDares are jointly hosting a dinner event Thursday, March 8, at Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden. Featuring Governor-General award-winner Sarah Payne, recognized nationally and internationally for her endeavours with women’s health, the evening will also include items for auction and door-prizes.
CFUW-Sunshine Coast and CanaDares hope this celebration of International Women’s Day will be well-attended, increasing awareness of CanaDares’ initiative in Tanzania, housing and educating abandoned children, and increasing the profile of the CFUW-SC’s Bursary Society, which provides much-needed financial assistance to mature women on the Coast who aim to improve their education.
Tickets are $75, with a tax receipt available, and can be purchased at the Sechelt Visitor Centre or by contacting 778-245-8321 or 604-885-8322. Come celebrate International Women’s Day, March 8, 5:30 p.m. at Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden.
