What does it mean to be human? Does it mean that we have a divine right to conquer and rule all around us? Or does it mean that we have a responsibility, together as a race, to take care of what we have been given?
These were questions I had never really considered until I saw Revolution. I suppose this was because I never suspected it to be questions for which the answers were different for everyone.
To me, being human, and its' very core, means that you care. Well, if this is true, then we have many aliens among us.
At a time when the world is suffering so greatly, the one thing everyone should do is care, yet we continue to allow the world to exist in turmoil. It really got me thinking, what will it be like when I grow up? I could list off hundreds of reasons why environmental salvation and preservation are important to me, but what it really boils down to is, I want to learn. I want to learn about the Earth, the trees, the oceans, the creatures, but I want to learn about them through real-life experiences.
I do not want to have to pick up a book to learn about sharks because they don't exist anymore, and I do not want to have to swim in a pool because the ocean is no longer safe due to pollution.
The lifestyle the human race leads today is not only killing the planet, but it is destroying millions of opportunities for generations to come.
Rob Stewart opened my eyes to something I did not want to see, but he also made me realize that the only way to fix the problem is if we all look. No one can be blind to this situation. I truly believe that, deep down, every person is good, and every person wants to care, they just need to be given the chance. It's not hopeless yet we can still turn things around, so let's be human together.
