The Sunshine Coast Hospice Society has announced the appointment of Tess Huntly as its new executive director.
Huntly comes to Hospice after decades working in the Lower Mainland in community living services for people with developmental disabilities, most recently as director of adult Services for the Kinsight Society, Hospice said in a news release.
“As a front-line employee turned longstanding non-profit leader, Tess was responsible for the services and support for all adults receiving services from Kinsight,” the release said.
“She brings a depth of experience to Hospice in finance, human resources, training, projects planning, raising funds, grant writing and working with a board and volunteers at an important point in our organization’s history.”
Huntly said she was honoured to be able to contribute to Hospice’s network of services.
“I look forward to working with the community to expand available options, including additional hospice beds, to meet growing community demand,” she said.
Having lost both of her parents in the last six years, Huntly said she has “gained a very personal perspective on the issues related to end of life care and decision-making.”
Huntly took over the position on June 21.
