Harvest Festival provides loads of fun

The Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society invites the whole community to its third annual Harvest Festival on Aug. 27. The event, slated for next Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. features loads of family fun, great food, and toe-tapping music.

The event, slated for next Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. features loads of family fun, great food, and toe-tapping music. Garden retail exhibits, tasting in the vegetable garden, children's crafts, bouncy castle, great food, Gerardo Avila the magician/story-teller, live music and bake sale.

The Amazing Home Harvest Contest invites you to bring your biggest, best, weirdest, most amazing fruit or vegetable grown in your own home garden, with special winners in many categories. Heaviest zucchini? Weirdest carrot? Tallest sunflower? Bring your best, we'll find it a category.

Jane Ford's paintings will be featured in the Sparling Pavilion, and of course you can see lots of change at the Botanical Garden. Enter at gate three, the main parking area. Admission is by donation, $5 per person or $20 for the whole family suggested.

Later that night from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., sip a glass of wine, nibble on Italian appetizers, enjoy paintings by Ford and listen to the amazing music of bluesman Jim Byrnes live at the Sparling Pavilion.
