Harbour Highlights: Silent auction at Bargain Barn

Friday, Nov. 9 is the first of two fantastic musical events this weekend in the Harbour. Pender Harbour Music Society’s Coffee House at the School of Music has another wonderful lineup of local performers: Ted and Joan, singer songwriters and guitar, Allan Nienhuis, vocals and guitar, and Triad, women’s vocal trio. Doors open at 7 p.m., music at 7:30. $10 suggested donation at the door. To perform or for info, call 604-883-9749. 

Saturday the award-winning Jazz Affair vocal group from Quebec will fill the School of Music with their dynamic sound of pure unaccompanied voices. Concert 7 p.m. Tickets $25 www.penderharbourmusic.ca, Harbour Insurance and Sechelt Visitor Centre. 

Sunday, Remembrance Day, Legion 112 will once again lead our community in tributes. The solemn parade through downtown Madeira Park begins at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony at the Legion starts at 11 a.m. Refreshments will follow. Wear your poppy proudly. Support the 2018 Poppy Campaign that benefits our community. 

Tuesday, Nov. 13, Women’s Connection welcomes award-winning author and columnist Jan DeGrass. Enjoy her presentation, “Co-op Activism and Soviet Stories and why it took over 40 years to write about them.” Tickets for the Annual Christmas Lunch and Fashion show Dec. 11 will be on sale at the gathering. $35 for members, $40 for non-members. 

Harbourside Friendship will be fun for all Thursday, Nov. 15 sharing an activity with the Grades 5 and 6 class. Come to the Hall at 10:30 a.m., then enjoy lunch served at noon. Drop in $10. 

The same evening Con-versation Cafe is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Euspira Café. Meet other parents and caregivers for a friendly, casual opportunity to share ideas and support. Guest speaker will be Linda Cordell of Sunshine Coast Credit Union. Refreshments served. Please drop by.
